This handsome, 15-story building at 161 West 75th Street was designed by Rosario Candela, the famous architect of luxury pre-war apartment buildings in the city. In this typical Candela style,

The Wellston has a one-story limestone base, limestone quoins, some decorative balconies,
a bandcourse and an intricate cornice.
Developed by Anthony A. Paterno, it was completed in 1925 and has about 130 co-operative apartments

and three elevator banks. Apartments have windowed kitchens and baths.
The second floor windows have stone surrounds.
The building features a full-time doormen, a bicycle room, a laundry room,

a live-in superintendent.
