Designed in 1924 by Schwartz & Gross, a major New York City architectural firm that specialized in pre-war residential buildings, 260 West End Avenue dominates the corner at 72nd Street. It was converted to a cooperative in 1980. The 17-story red-brick high-rise is detailed by white masonry, including window surrounds on the 2nd, 3rd, 13th, 14th and 15th floors; band courses at the 3rd, 4th, 13th and 14th floors, and two more above the top floor beneath the prominent white cornice. Finally, large decorative stone balconies grace the central façades on 72nd Street and West End Avenue.

                                Beautifully-appointed pre-war building located between
                                                       Central and Riverside Parks

The spectacular vaulted lobby is highlighted by an intricately-patterned terrazzo floor, sweeping marble staircases, and lush pre-war detailing including a vaulted ceiling with floral bas reliefs in the recessed panels. The approximately 75 spacious apartments, most with one and two bedrooms, retain beautiful pre-war details as well, including high beamed ceilings, decorative moldings, and herringbone floors. Some of the apartments enjoy Hudson River and Riverside Park views. Building amenities include a 24-hour attended lobby, live-in superintendent, laundry, and storage units.

260 West End Avenue situates its residents just a block from Riverside Park and the Hudson River, and three blocks away from Central Park. It’s also a block from Broadway, with its extensive variety of restaurants, cafés, and shopping (including Fairway, Citarella, and Trader Joe’s). Lincoln Center, a cornerstone of New York City’s culture focused on music, dance and theatre, is close by. The building is also extremely convenient to public transportation, with the 1, 2, and 3 trains one block to the east on Broadway and 72nd Street, plus numerous city buses.
