Designed in 1924 by Schwartz & Gross, a major New York City architectural firm that specialized in pre-war residential buildings, 260 West End Avenue dominates the corner at 72nd Street. It was converted to a cooperative in 1980. The 17-story red-brick high-rise is detailed by white masonry, including window surrounds on the 2nd, 3rd, 13th, 14th and 15th floors; band courses at the 3rd, 4th, 13th and 14th floors, and two more above the top floor beneath the prominent white cornice. Finally, large decorative stone balconies grace the central façades on 72nd Street and West End Avenue.

The spectacular vaulted lobby is highlighted by an intricately-patterned terrazzo floor, sweeping marble staircases, and lush pre-war detailing including a vaulted ceiling with floral bas reliefs in the recessed panels.
